As an employee and in consulting projects for a number of Midwest Internet providers and private corporate network groups, I have extensive experience with IP network security issues, including firewalls, internal security as well as Internet and other remote access solutions.

Extensive experience with Radware and BigIP for load-balancing HTTP, HTTPS, DNS, FTP, and other services.

Assisted in the selection, configuration and installation of primary and secondary firewalls and Intrusion Detection for Tribune Corporation, including choosing and testing systems to implement load-balancing and failover.

Extensive experience with Authentication protocols for host, web server, and VPN access control.

In my consulting projects, I have had extensive experience with security issues, including designing and implementing authentication solutions.

Secure Shell (SSH)

Compiled, installed and customized commercial and open source SSH, including OpenSSH, on a variety of Unix and Windows platforms. I've made extensive use of the trust model in ssh to automate file transfer and command execution that would otherwise require opening insecure protocols such as FTP. Migrating existing production systems from insecure protocols to SSH and SSH-based port-forwarded tunnels.

Intrusion Detection

Extensive experience with SourceFIRE IS3000 and DC3000 intrusion prevention appliances. Experienced in using networking monitoring tools and packet analysis software to diagnose network problems.

Experienced in responding to suspected network intrusions and similar security events, often as the first response to outside attacks against private networks.
